Mel Lamagna is the Chief Instruction and Student Affairs Officer at Berkeley Social Welfare. He is a licensed clinical social worker with an MSW from The University of Chicago Crown Family School and BSW from Western Michigan University.
Mel has extensive clinical experience working with integrative community-based organizations, child welfare/child protection agencies, and pediatric medical research facilities. He also maintained a private practice in Chicago as a psychotherapist for adult mental health services and clinical consultation. Mel integrated his clinical background with senior leadership positions held at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago overseeing the medical social work department, and at The University of Chicago Crown Family School as Director of Field Education implementing the school’s practicum education policies and curriculum.
