Berkeley Social Welfare Faculty and Alumni Honored at SSWR 2020 Conference

Two Berkeley Social Welfare faculty members and one recent graduate will be honored at the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) conference in Washington D.C. this week.

Assistant Professor Tina Sacks's book, Invisible Visits: Black Middle-Class Women in the American Healthcare System (Oxford University Press), has received an honorable mention for the 2020 Outstanding Social Work Book Award. Conferred by the Society for Social Work and Research, the award recognizes outstanding scholarly contributions that advance social work knowledge.

Professor Susan Stone will be inducted as a 2020 Fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare. The Academy is an honorific society of distinguished scholars and practitioners dedicated to achieving excellence in the field of social work and social welfare through high-impact work that advances social good.

Now an Assistant Professor at Rutgers, recent graduate Woojin Jung (PhD, 2019) will receive the 2020 Society for Social Work and Research Outstanding Social Work Doctoral Dissertation Award for her dissertation "Combating Poverty through Aid: A Critical Analysis of Alternative Models."
