Matthew Smith (BA' 18) Organizes Cal Aid to Wildfires

At the height of the Napa and Sonoma Country wildfires, Berkeley Social Welfare major and Marine Corps veteran Matthew Smith (BA '18) spearheaded efforts to assist victims devastated by the ongoing blaze.

Smith, who is also president of the student group Cal Veterans, mobilized colleagues throughout the campus with "military experience or training in public health" to take care of critical needs in Santa Rosa's Veterans Memorial Building, which served as a shelter for evacuees.
