Foreign Service Institute honors Ambassador Ruth Davis (MSW '68)

"In honor of Ambassador (ret.) Ruth A. Davis’s 40-year distinguished career and commitment to diplomatic excellence, the Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is renaming its Director’s Conference Room as the Davis Conference Room [to honor] her legacy as a groundbreaking and inspirational leader."

Among many other career accomplishments Davis was the first African American director of the Foreign Service Institute, the first African American female director general of the foreign service, and the first African American woman to be named Career Ambassador, the highest rank in the Foreign Service.
