Celebrate Haviland Hall's 100th Anniversary

2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Haviland Hall, as well as the 80th anniversary of Berkeley Social Welfare. On Saturday, October 19, we'll celebrate our community and chart the future of social work!

Schedule for Saturday, October 19

All events will take place at Haviland Hall on UC Berkeley's campus

  • 9:45am: Registration. Outside Haviland Hall.

  • 10:00am: Meet and mingle with our research groups over refreshments. Haviland Commons, first floor.

  • 11:00am: Keynote - From Carceral to Abolition Feminism: Implications for Social Welfare. Delivered by Mimi Kim (PhD '14)Associate Professor at the School of Social Work, California State University, Long Beach. Haviland 340, overflow livestream: Haviland Commons, first floor. 

  • 12:00pm: Picnic lunch. Present meal tickets to pick up lunch at Nathan Grove, the picnic area outside Haviland. 

  • 2:00pm: Panel - The Past, Present, and Future of Social Work. Haviland 340, overflow livestream: Haviland Commons, first floor. 

Ongoing: Self-guided historic tours, library exhibits, video story-collecting booth (Library Seminar Room 227A).
