Licensure (ASW, LCSW)

This pathway is designed for students who intend to become licensed clinical social workers. It prepares students for advanced clinical practice and meets the educational requirements for:

Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) registration

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure

Social work licensure and certification standards are determined and administered by the Board of Behavioral...

Can I pursue both the PPSC and LCSW while in the program?

We encourage students to prioritize one over the other, as this may result in taking additional courses or a heavy workload. Though rare, courses may overlap.

Will choosing a pathway (LCSW or PPSC) increase my time in the program? What are the course requirements?

No. We will offer all necessary requirements during a student's time in the program. It is the student's responsibility to track and ensure they are taking all courses required for either pathway. Courses for the pathways are taken in the second year of the program as electives.

How would I know I am on the right track? (LCSW or PPSC)

Our PPSC Coordinator provides a checklist and checks in at various points throughout the program to ensure students are on track. The program also offers a plan template that helps students track and plan elective coursework.
