School Social Work Credentialing: Post-Master's PPSC Program

Berkeley Social Welfare offers a curriculum in school social work practice, leading to eligibility for a recommendation from the School for the Pupil Personnel Services Credentials (PPSC) issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. A Post-Master's PPSC Program option is available for social work professionals who already hold the Master’s in Social Work (MSW) degree from a graduate program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Post-MSW PPSC Program candidates complete the required course work in the summer through Berkeley Summer Sessions. Two courses are required. For Summer Sessions 2017, we will be offering one course online, and one course in-person on the Berkeley campus, as indicated below. Click on the course links to learn more about each one:

  • SOC WEL W232 - Social Work and Education Policy
    Berkeley Summer Sessions A: May 22-June 30, 2017
This course is conducted entirely online, which means you do not have to be on campus to complete any portion of it!

You will participate in the course using UC Berkeley’s learning management system called bCourses. The course is structured into weekly modules, and utilizes multiple methods in an attempt to appeal to a variety of learning styles, including readings, videos, discussion boards, reflective journaling, experiential exercises and written assignments.

  • SOC WEL 250T - Social Work Practice in School Settings
    Berkeley Summer Sessions D: July 3-August 11, 2017
This practice course meets in-person on Mondays & Tuesdays, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days.
