Dr. Organista Named Special Assistant for Faculty Mentoring

Berkeley Social Welfare professor appointed to new campus role

Longtime Berkeley Social Welfare Professor Kurt C. Organista has been appointed to the newly established position of special assistant for faculty mentoring at Berkeley.

Selected by Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion Gibor Basri, Vice Provost for the Faculty Janet Broughton and Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Equity Angelica Stacy, Dr. Organista will be working with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion and the Office of the Vice Provost for the Faculty to support efforts to expand faculty mentoring. 

In addition to his role at the School of Social Welfare, Dr. Organista has served as director of the Center for Latino Policy Research, provided informal mentoring to other faculty members and is currently the formal mentor to two junior professors through NIMH and NIDA federal mentoring programs.
