AASWSW Urges Social Workers to March for Science

The American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare (AASWSW), as a partner organization of the March for Science, is encouraging social workers to participate in the national demonstrations and rallies taking place on Earth Day, April 22, 2017. Marchers representing the social work profession are invited to wear the color orange.

One of the largest rallies will take place in Washington, DC. Social work colleagues can meet in front of the Smithsonian Castle at 11:00 am on April 22, where the Society for Reseaerch in Child Development and the Consortium of Social Science Associations (COSSA) members will also be meeting.

AASWSW president Sarah Gehlert and past president Richard P. Barth have coordinated with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), COSSA, Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work (GADE), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) to "encourage [the] strong presence of the social work profession at the marches in DC and nationwide."
