Congratulations to Monica De La Cruz, PhD, MPH, who received an Honorable Mention for the 2026 Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Outstanding Social Work Doctoral Dissertation Award for her dissertation, "Beyond Sticks and Stones: How Poverty Narratives Shape Public Assistance and Support for Guaranteed Income." Her work offers a timely and powerful examination of how narratives about poverty influence public policy and support for guaranteed income.
