Elizabeth Shea Holmstrup Fellowship

The Elizabeth Shea Holmstrup Fellowship was established in 2013 by a bequest from the Elizabeth Shea Holmstrup Scholarship Foundation. Elizabeth Shea Holmstrup recevied her MSW from Berkeley in 1949. She also had a nursing degree from the Mayo Clinic, and enjoyed a long career as a nurse and medical social worker for the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

The Holmstrup Fellowship provides tuition and fee assistance for Social Welfare graduate students demonstrating financial need and preference is given to those who have not received as much funding from the department as other students in the department.

For the 2022-23 academic year, the Holmstrup Fellowship will provide a total of $4,000 in financial support, consisting of:

  • A $3,000 credit towards payment of tuition and fees ($1,500 each semester for Fall and Spring).
  • A $1,000 cash stipend ($500 each semester for Fall and Spring).

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for this fellowship, students must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Must be a current MSW student in good academic standing.
  2. Must have an Expected Graduation Term of Spring 2023. Students graduating in Fall 2022, or Summer 2023 or later, are not eligible.
