Community lecturer Carrie Cangelosi, LCSW, received her BA from Albion College in 2002 and her MSW from UC Berkeley in 2007. Since receiving her MSW, she has worked in public sector health settings. She first worked at an adult primary care clinic at San Francisco General Hospital for 7 years, in a role that evolved from medical social work to clinical work as part of an integrated behavioral health team. Since 2014, she has worked at a family practice community health center at LifeLong Medical Care, here in Berkeley. Carrie provides direct care to patients through individual therapy and groups, supervises the integrated behavioral health team at her clinic, and works on behavioral health related initiatives across the agency, including universal screening for depression and unhealthy alcohol use at LifeLong's primary care clinics. At UC Berkeley, Carrie teaches Motivational Interviewing, something she is passionate about it. She has enjoyed having opportunities to both use Motivational Interviewing in practice and train others in it over the course of her career. She has been an active member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers since 2010. Outside of work, Carrie enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, exercising, cooking, and reading.
