The Chair is the spokesperson for the student body, coordinates activities/policies with Dean, and supervises other student officers and representatives.  Oversees operation of SWGA, sets monthly meeting agendas and chairs meetings.  Representative for the Executive and the Departmental Teaching Staff Committees and the Community Partnership Board.  Alternates with other officers for office hours, holds a key and is responsible for maintenance of SWGA office.  The Chair (along with the other officers and committee members) is active in organizing new student orientation, SWGA elections and graduation, involved in the planning/implementation of the Symposium, and is ultimately responsible for "passing the torch" to the next SWGA governing body. Position requires a commitment of up to 65 hours a month.

Assists the Chair in the above duties and facilitates meetings in the Chair absence.  Assists the Secretary in publicizing SWGA activities, schedules rooms for SWGA meetings and is active in organizing new student orientation, elections and graduation.  Takes on large areas of responsibility such a organizing the Book Fair.  Participates in the Executive Committee and the Departmental Teaching Staff in the fall and acts as an alternate in the spring.  Alternates with other officers with office hours.  Position requires a commitment of up to 50 hours a month.

Responsible for recording meeting minutes and taking attendance; distribute minutes to all members; maintains archive of past minutes and memorabilia; holds the primary responsibility of making SWGA announcements and advertising events; reads and responds to SWGA mail, handles all supply requests for SWGA, support other officers when needed (i.e. setting meeting agenda, getting food, etc.); alternates with other officers with office hours; represents SWGA at official functions. Position requires up to 25 hours a month.

Responsible for SWGA budget, keeps track of banking accounts, prepares requests for funding and gives financial reports.  Works with Graduate Assembly Representatives in grant applications for GA funds, helps coordinate fundraising activities, and works with Symposium Committee treasurer.  Support other officers when needed (i.e. setting meeting agenda, getting food, etc.), alternates with other officers with office hours and represents SWGA at official functions. Position requires up to 25 hours a month.

Fundraiser

Vacant Position

*New Position*  Responsible for any fundraising related to SWGA.  Fundraising projects could include: T-shirt, bake sales, candy grams, donor campaign, social events, etc.  This rep would work closely with the Treasurer and Events Coordinators and should be involved with fundraising for the Symposium.  Position could require up to 15 hours per month and will begin immediately after elections.

The Events Coordinators organize important and special events involving SWGA.  They generate ideas and assist in the coordination of social events such as: community service days, buddy system, study breaks, end of the year event, and the local NASW conference.  Plays a key role in coordination of new student orientation and Symposium.  This position requires up to 30 hours a month.

Point person for the different caucuses.  Duties include: representing the Caucus interests at SWGA meeting, working with Admissions Rep to field prospective student interest and with Events Coordinators to plan joint events involving caucuses.  Coordinates caucus meetings during new student orientation. Position requires up to 12 hours a month.

Responsibilities include: attending the monthly meetings, as well as any program/dinner meetings, regular contact with regional director, organizes NASW Lobby Days, and acting as the student liaison between the students and NASW.  This Representative shares student input at the meetings and encourages students to join NASW.  Position requires up to 8 hours a month.

The MSW Curriculum Representative attends all MSW Program Committee meetings.  Representatives from each of the concentrations should address their concerns regarding programming to the Curriculum Rep.  The MSW curriculum rep is a strong advocate and acts as the voice of student concerns.  This position requires up to 15 hours a month.

This committee reviews and makes recommendations of the school’s internal/external operations and of curriculum/instruction issues related to diversity, works to bring issues of diversity into the training/education of students through the curriculum and colloquiums offered.  The group also focuses on minority student recruitment and the position entails chairing the Diversity Task Force committee focused on such issues. Position requires up to 15 hours a month.

This committee addresses issues related to the research portion of the MSW curriculum.  Areas of discussion include consistency across sections, relationship of SW 280 and 282 course work, the flex exam, text books.  The committee meets 2-3 times per semester and most of the work is done via email. Position requires up to 5 hours per month.

The Title IV-E Committee Rep attends any Title IV-E related meetings, stays in close contact with Title IV-E faculty advisors, should be aware of the requirements and deadlines for the Title IV-E program and fields questions that current or prospective students might have.  This representative is voted into office by the Title IV-E students in early fall and not in the general election.  Requires up to 10 hours a month.

Concentration Representatives act as the voice for students within each individual concentrations.  Position responsibilities include: attending 1 to 2 meetings per semester with concentration Faculty and Staff, voicing student concerns, fielding any questions from current or prospective students, mandatory attendance of all SWGA meetings, communicating with applicants and incoming students interested in the concentration, keeping students aware of any outside opportunities or events surrounding concentration issues and making SWGA announcements to all students within their concentration.  Volunteers at new student orientation and host informational meetings to incoming students.  Position requires up to 20 hours per month.
