PH 142 (previously PH142A)

Generally entering doctoral students take PH142 and PH145 during their first year in the doctoral program at the School of Social Welfare at U. C. Berkeley. However, sometimes a student may wish to take a more advanced class. In order to help you determine which class is most appropriate for you, we have put together some assessment materials.

PH 142

1. Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion for Ungrouped Data
2. Descriptive Statistics: Grouped Data.
3. Probability: Definitions and Theorems
4. Probability: Sampling with Replacement
5. Random Variables: Expectation and Variance
6. Discrete Probability Distributions
7. Continuous Probability Distribution: the normal distribution
8. Statistical Inference: Hypothesis Testing
9. Statistical Inference: Interval Estimation
