Profile: Student-Veteran Brian Vargas (BA '16)

In Berkeley News' profile article, "War wounds lead graduating veteran to new mission, Berkeley Social Welfare major and US Marines veteran Brian Vargas (BA '16) shares his story about overcoming the physical and emotional scars of his wartime experiences to earn his degree and begin a career aiding fellow vets.

“I can't be on the battlefield running and protecting people anymore, but the strong pull I feel now is social work, to work with veterans face-to-face,” he says.

Vargas will serve as the undergraduate speaker at Berkeley Social Welfare's commencement ceremony on May 14th.
