Meet
the Field Faculty
The Field
Faculty consists of the director, Bart Grossman, and eight field
consultants who are members of The School of Social Welfare Departmental
Teaching Staff. Most schools of social work assign field liaison
and monitoring tasks as an ancillary function of the classroom
faculty. Berkeley has, instead, a cadre of field work specialists
for whom the development of the field program, monitoring of field
placements, and the support and guidance of students in the field
is a central responsibility.
Each field
faculty is a specialist in one of the fields of practice represented
in the curriculum. They also teach practice courses and serve
on departmental committees and curriculum planning groups, thereby
helping to link the curriculum with field issues. The deep, ongoing
involvement of our field faculty in the agency community helps
to keep the School current on policy, program development, and
practice issues.
