B.A. (Economics), University of California, Berkeley, 1967; M.S. Experience in the Field:

Bari Cornet's area of expertise is Public Health Social Work with a focus on Maternal and Child Health. In addition to her role as Field Consultant and Lecturer, she has experience in both the nonprofit and governmental sectors. Her expertise is in the MediCal Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (including program design, staffing issues, financing, and billing), access to care, MediCal Managed Care, and community centered planning. Research interests include definition and implementation of psychosocial services within perinatal health, health care delivery through the use of community health workers, and increasing access to care for the underserved. She has conducted studies of pediatric access in Southern Alameda County, intensity of comprehensive perinatal services, and the use of multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of care. Community involvement includes: Chair of Alameda County Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Advisory Board; perinatal advisory boards for State of California Department of Health Services; and consultation to various county and nonprofit agencies and foundations. She teaches in the Management and Planning program and works with students interested in Public Health Social Work.
