Dr. Rothman
received her MSW from Hunter College (CUNY) and her PhD. (in philosophy)
from American University in Washington DC. She has taught social
work practice, professional social work ethics, diversity, death
and psychodrama at National Catholic School of Social Service (CUA)
in Washington DC. At UC Berkeley, she teaches social work practice,
diversity, disability, and law and ethics in gerontology in the
MSW program, and social work practice and aging on the undergraduate
level. She holds a concurrent appointment in the School of Public
Health, where she teaches in the areas of aging, health, and diversity,
and interdisciplinary teams.
Her professional
publications include: From the Front Lines: Student Cases in
Social Work Ethics, The Self-Awareness Workbook for Social
Workers, Contracting in Clinical Social Work, Stepping
out into the Field: A Field Work Manual for Social Work Students,
Social Work Practice Across Disability, and her newest, Cultural
Competence is Process and Practice: Building Bridges. She has
written the article on therapeutic contracting in The Social
Worker's Desk Reference. She has also written in the field
of bereavement, including a child's bibliotherapy book, A Birthday
Present for Daniel.
