After
admission to a graduate school at Berkeley, a student may apply
for a second professional degree in another field after their
first year. The Dual Degree Program offers interdisciplinary preparation
in the fields of public health and social welfare leading to the
MSW and MPH degree in three years. Its objective is to provide
the knowledge and skills necessary to promote health, prevent
disease, and enhance the delivery of health and social services
in the community. The program allows students to build interdisciplinary
skills and professional identity by developing an understanding
of the breadth of each field, the interrelationships of the fields,
and focused content in particular specialty areas. For information,
